Travel Time

We travel from country to country on a 757 jet refitted for under 80 passengers. During the air travel time, which can range from 3-9 hours, we hear lectures from experts on the cultures, artwork, architecture and geography of the places we will be visiting. They hook their computers into the overhead video systems so we can follow their presentations.

We’re especially lucky that the lecturers stay with us at our hotels and participate in our tours and other activities. That means they are readily available for the storm of questions that crop up at each stop.

My fellow passengers are an additional source of information and insight. One of my favorite times this far was participating in an extra two hour exploration of Angkor Wat with a professor, the chair in fact, of the classics department at Cambridge. He, his wife Shawn and I wandered the temple complex very early in the morning, before the crowds arrived. Among the many other things I learned from Christopher and Shawn is this gem: visit sites early. Our time there was magical.
